Promising Practices

Telling Our Story

AASCU’s Promising Practices highlight effective approaches that colleges and universities are using to strengthen student success and demonstrate the value of higher education. These stories give AASCU members an opportunity to share what is working on their campuses and provide ideas and lessons that other institutions can learn from.

Use this form to tell us about a promising practice at your institution. We are interested in programs, initiatives, partnerships, and other approaches that have produced positive results or are showing promising early outcomes.

You do not need to write the finished story. AASCU editors will use the information you provide to develop a Promising Practices story consistent with others in the series. You will have an opportunity to review the story for accuracy before it is published on this website.

* Required Field

Begin typing your college/university name and choose from the list that appears. Please do not edit the way the name appears in this field.

For the narrative questions below, a few paragraphs per response is sufficient.

Briefly describe the program, initiative, partnership, or approach. What challenge or opportunity led your institution to develop it, and what did you hope to accomplish?

Select the option that best fits your submission.

Tell us how the idea moved from concept to implementation. Who was involved, and what roles did campus leaders, faculty, staff, students, community organizations, employers, or other partners play? Please include any information or evidence that helped your institution identify the need for this work.

Describe the key methods, activities, services, or strategies involved. What resources or structures are needed to support the work? How has the approach evolved since it began?

Please share available outcomes, data, feedback, or other evidence of progress. If the promising practice is still underway, early findings are welcome. Tell us what measures your institution uses to determine whether the work is successful.

Consider the potential long-term benefits for students and families, your institution, and the broader community.

Share key takeaways, lessons learned, or practical advice for institutions interested in developing a similar approach.

If available, please share a quote from a student, faculty or staff member, community partner, employer, or other participant that helps illustrate the impact of this promising practice. Please identify the person quoted and their connection to the initiative

Upload a photo (jpeg, jpg, gif, png)

If available, please upload an image that helps tell the story of your promising practice. Photos of participants or the program in action are especially helpful. Charts or graphics illustrating results may also be submitted.

If you have a video that helps demonstrate the promising practice or its impact, please provide the link here.
